What I Love: The kanji on the back, the arm guards, having my own sword. :D
What I Don't: I premiered it before all the painting was done... Otherwise, nothing, 'cept maybe forgetting to cross the top the right way at AX. u_u
Status: Active

Inspiration and Etc.: You know, Kasumi didn't start out as my favorite. But after fixing up and altering the costume I made of her for my friend's sake, I fell for her. I absolutely adore her now, and want to cosplay her more. I like my white C2 costume, but it just wasn't up to the standards of what I can make now. So I set out to make her somewhat more recognizable blue C1 outfit... Besides, I adore poofy sleeves. ^_~

Construction / Costume Notes: I only used one pattern on this, and that was a basic kimono pattern just to get the cross-over robe part to look really nice. Here's a "secret", haha -- I've never made one of these sorts of outfits, either Kasumi or Mai, with an actual open top; all of the other tops have the kimono look totally faked so they're more like shirts. XD The only consequence of doing it the accurate way was me not remembering to even cross it over correctly when I first wore it at AX! From here on out, I am always checking my references when I put it on. XO Anyway. The costume is made mostly with this royal blue casa satin. I meant to get casa crepe, but I was buying fabric for five other costumes and didn't really notice it was satin instead of crepe. XD; Oh well, at least casa satin isn't as gaudy and shiny as most other satins. u_u The obi, however, is baroque satin. It was redone after AX because I wasn't happy with it at first. The rest of the white on this costume is made with bias tape, because I love it yay. It's sewn on the inside and hotglued on the outside, because uh, I have to stick to my roots on these things? XD; The gold around my wrists is PVC. The arm & leg guards have a very sturdy interfacing inside them to keep them up; something I always wanted in my previous Kasumi but never did. They were annoying to put together, though, as pinning through the two layers of fabric and interfacing ended up in a few injuries for my fingers. T_T! Then there's the blue ribbon connecting the two flaps, which is actually a very darker blue than the outfit but it seems to look just fine in photos. The gold cording on the leg guards is recycled from my first Kasumi costume. The kanji on the back was hand painted by me. ^_^v Ahaha and the sword was a plastic toy ninja sword bought from Japantown's dollar store. I painted the hilt and added the red design and tassels. XD Hurray. I cut my hair after AX and bought a wig for this costume from CosWorx.com. It was styled after JTAF and still needs to be fixed up a bit. :x Then I still need to do the rest of the painting...

Character Background: Kasumi is one of the main characters, if not the best known, of the Dead or Alive fighting game series from Tecmo. Her default costume is always the same blue design with poofy sleeves, though the specific version here with these details was used after Dead or Alive 3 and has stayed this way since then. As a ninja, Kasumi is very serious and rarely has time to goof off or have fun. She is a runaway shinobi needing to constantly stay out of the eye of her past clan, as she is considered a traitor.
