Appearances:Version 1 - FanimeCon 2003, Anime Expo 2003; Version 2 - Anime Expo 2004, CN Anime Expo 2004 What I Love: The PETALS. :D My sword sheath. Oddly enough, my hair ribbon... o.o Oh, and the kanji on the back, but not the little ones above the big round one. u_u What I Don't: How bad the original version looked. x_X The fact that I never had leg guards, and that I had the bottom ribbon ties wrong. u_u Status: Retired/Sacrificed (I turned it into the DOA3/DOA Ultimate version!)
Inspiration and Etc.: This is definitely one of the few costumes that I did not start out making for my own benefit. My best friend at the time was a huge Kasumi fan, so I agreed to do this costume for him. We used to play DOA2: Hardcore together a lot, so it was like a tribute to that. XD I had first planned to make her C8 outfit from DOA2: Hardcore, but as time ran out I decided on this simpler version instead. ^^; The only problem was that it was a bit rushed, so when I first wore it I was missing the small kanji above her round one on the back, leg guards, and any sort of cherry blossom design on the outfit itself. I added the extra kanji (albeit .. badly done T_T) and petal design by Anime Expo in 2004 though. ^^ I was soooo happy with my 3D petal look. *_* By then, I became really attached to Kasumi and was really happy about all the extra effort I put into the costume. My favorite DOA character was originally Ayane, but now Kasumi has a big place in my heart. ^_^! After later turning this outfit into her DOA3/DOAU outfit, I want to make even more and more of her costumes. I kinda feel bad for leaving my love and costume ideas for Ayane behind. ^^; Maybe someday I'll get to her...
Construction / Costume Notes: This costume was made entirely with hot-glue because I couldn't sew at the time. Woo-hoo! But with my other hot-glued costumes, there's a lot of creativity in the design to put it together. It's not like it was lazily put together and could fall apart. :P The top is white crepe (I believe, it was so long ago when I bought the fabric) and the red detail/edging is just bias tape. The obi is pink satin, and I like the way it adds to the overall look of the costume with its shiny surface. The petal design in version 2 was made by buying a craft flower and taking apart the petals. XD Any ribbon on the outfit is just regular ribbon from the fabric store, and the white thigh-high leggings for this version were bought at Victoria's Secret. :3 At CN I had new, more accurate leggings that carried over to the next version. The gloves were cheap costume gloves with the fingers cut off and hemmed. Ah, and the choker is also bias tape left over from the rest of the outfit. When I had a sword, I actually cut a hole in the back of my obi because Kasumi's got this weird fold over to keep it there. ^^; It didn't stay there very well, so if it looks like it's standing up in photos then I just got lucky. XD The kanji was painted on with this solid fabric paint that turned into actual paint when you added water. If I still had it I could tell you the name, but it was really messy and hard to work with so I dunno if I'd totally recommend it. n.n

Character Background: Kasumi is one of the main characters, if not the best known, of the Dead or Alive fighting game series from Tecmo. This white alternate is fairly constant as her 2nd costume in the games, though the specific version here with these details was used in Dead or Alive 2. As a ninja, Kasumi is very serious and rarely has time to goof off or have fun. She is a runaway shinobi needing to constantly stay out of the eye of her past clan, as she is considered a traitor.
